engine tuning...

Howdy Y'all...
Well i'm not having any luck selling my pearl 74L so i think i might get it tuned and use it as my daily driver until i can get rid of it...

first question:
Does anyone know where i can get a manual that explains STEP BY STEP how to tune a car. i know a little bit about beetle mechanics.. but not enough to tune so i'm pretty clueless.

second question:
Does anyone know somewhere that's really really cheap and is really good with tuning vdub engines. won't rip me off or do a shitty job... anyone?

thanks a bunch guys and gals.

Tune a VW

First thing:
See if you can find the book-"The Idiots giude to VW's", it has some cartoons/drawings on the front cover. It is a good read even if you are not mechanicaly minded. It has been re written a few times and explains everything in ENGLISH not technical speak!

Second:Depending where you live in Sydney, give "Hellbug" a try, they do roadside services.....ie come to your place and do the service in your driveway/garadge!

Good luck!

Rob - where are you

Go back a few posts and find Rob of Rob and Dave fame.....he has a great site for tuning your dub.

Otherwise give Richard a call at V Force on 9743 1247. He will set it up right

Hey Blue - I'm here, just 'late' - that's all.

Thanks to Blue for the current name of our
site,
http://www.geocities.com/aussiebug1970/

and to mnskombi for the old name

http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/lane/1970/

- both work.

And the direct link to the tune-up procedures is:

http://www.geocities.com/aussiebug1970/30PICT2.html  for those with "single adjusting screw" carbies, and

http://www.geocities.com/aussiebug1970/34pict3.html  for those with "two adjusting screw" carbies.

Both include full tune-up info including timing of various distributors and such.

Why not join Club Veedub Sydney.

Come along to a monthly meeting - we have a library full of VW workshop manuals (including the Idiot book) that members can borrow for free. And a room full of VW nuts who can explain anything you need to know.

The meeting is at the Greyhound Club, Rookwood Rd Yagoona, on Thursday 21st at 8:00pm.
