gearbox drama

We currently have a 1965 swing axle beetle with a LOUD box and jumps out of 4th. I have an IRS box sitting in the shed that I know is okay out of a fastback.

Is it possible to put swing axle diff assembly and axles into the type 3 box? The cases look identical.

Yes - BUT

You would have to change the trailing? arms and stuff. Easier to do a pan swap. (Yeah right! - ie not a simple job)

Just pick up another box and wack it in
