I have an 82 (aircooled) camper with a similar awning. It came from Fiama (that's a brand name) and available from many of the caravan
suppliers. It rolls into a housing on the side of the van.

There's no doubt about it, kombis make awesome campers, even if they're not a camper! :thumb Not only can they carry a heap of gear, but
they also go nearly anywhere...

And a picture of the van with the awning at Lake Purbury in Tasmania. I spent a month down there two years ago. What an awesome way to go. Still

Yep Daisy, I like my setup, mainly because its flexible. Mine is just a standard kombi with 9 seats, but the seats go in or out in about 15 minutes.
I'd love to have a camper, but I need the seats and the roofrack for carting Scouts and equipment around.
I would like to fit a roll-out awning on the left side of the roofrack, if not both, but in the meantime, the roofrack makes a great mount to tie a
tarp to.
Rick (Manx020) from Mackay has a nice setup, with a channel that mounts to his roofbars. The tarp with the rope sewn into the edge then slides into
the channel and is supported along the other edges by some adjustable poles for about $10 each. )See photo) :thumb If I can't find a suitably
cheap roll-out awning, I might use his idea instead.
As for the hubcaps, they can't be beat. $20 for a set of four. I bought 2 sets, so now my front-mounted spare wears one, and my spare in the back
sports another two, which makes a great place to store my jumper leads, tyre compressor, wheel brace and some rags, while looking good at the same
time.
Ps. Rick, U2U me your address so I can send you a cd of photos....
