Fast Idle, runs rough

Allright. I've got no bloody idea how to fix cars. Help! A couple of days ago when I was driving my bug became instantly rough and started idling at around 1500-2000RPM. It's been that way ever since. It's not the linkage as I disconnected it and it's doing exactly the same thing. It starts first go but then continually stalls till it gets warm and then idles really high. What could have changed that would cause this to happen? I figure a blockage or just about anything else would make the revs go down. And why only when it's hot, and stalling when it's cold? I thought it might be the Accelerator cable sticking, but even when I pull the cable out all the way it still idles high. Any help or suggestions are as always much appreciated. Bill

Rough and idling high

If it is a 1600 twin port it will more than likely have a 3 piece inlet manifold, checkthat the rubber joints are not split or brocken plus check that all the carby ajustment screws (on the passengers side if it is a solex) refer to a manual on ajustment of these good luck .

Still sounds like a vacuum leak. wiggle the carbs about to see if a manifold has come loose.
