Victorian B & W no. plates value

My kombi currently has original 1973 Victorian number plates = LRJ 649...which are black and white.

I have other number plate ( my initials) which I want to put on the kombi. Are the black and white plates worth anything? and can I sell them? Thanks!

To be honest, they are scrap metal if not on the original vehicle.

EH's came out with plates HSV ---

Some of these guys kept plates thinking they would be worth money, but because the car was not registered, the plates were reissued to other people.

Holding the plates in your hand means nothing unless the vehicle is less than 12 months out of rego, or they are custom or personalised plates. Then you own them forever.

Yeah what peter said.
I have B&W HOB 870 on my Land Cruiser.
Hob for my sir name and 8 70 for August 1970.
I payed $290 for them but they would of been on a car origionaly.
Basicly when you pay the $290 you are paying for the right to display them.
You never own the plate.

When I was in N/S/W 3 weeks ago someone offered me $500 for my FLY N XR plates. I laughed and said you live in New South.
The Tool wanted to put them on at car shows.

Reissue B+W plates are now $310 from Vicroads... Doh.

If you want all the info on plates in Victoria, try www.vicroads.vic.gov.au
