Roadworthy Advice needed,,
Good to see sites running again,,,
I'm going for roadworthy in 7days but have discovered a slow oil leak (probably main seal), should I pull the engine (1st time) or bodgy up
something so she won't leak during roadworthy,,? Someone suggested the Wynns stop-leaking-oil-you-annoying-car additive, but worried about follow
on effects,,
Any advice?

the engine stop leak products work well in many cases , what they do is "expand" the rubber seals, the only way I can describe it is like
blowing up a sponge! this also softens the seal. Down side is that it only works once - so if anybody at any time before put some in, then you are
wasting money, the other downside is because the oil seal is softer it can wear quicker . About 18 years ago my mum in laws 1600 Type 3 was pissing
out oil from the crank at the clutch end, I put a bottle of stop leak in & she got another 2 years out of it before it started leaking again, but
that has been the exception to most times I have tried it

Mate of mine gave me a bottle (he changed engines) so I'll give it a go,,

Decided to pull the engine tommorrow (may as well have a go), hopefully have her back in an running intime for Dubs-by-the-Pub,,
What else usually gets checked/failed during a roadworthy in VW's ?

that wont work, thaey may become suspicious!! & here in NSW they take it for a short drive to do brake test, al you can do is wipe it all off
just before you get there & make sure you get the whole thing checked while you wait, rather than leaving it there for a day giving it time for
just a coupla drops to reach ground & attract attention

Yeah I agree with you there,, I think they would become a bit sus if she siezed during inspection !! Mayby I could take out the engine and hide in the
engine bay discuised as a 1600 !! (like the flintstones car)
