So how was your weekend.

Their was a lot on around the counrty this weekend with carshows, BBQ's, swap meets, and the usual tramp all over sandy islands.

Tell us what you did :), what you broke :o, how broke you got :(, what you think you did after you can't remember :D and what you'll remember forever because others won't let you forget it :kiss .

Heaps of other Dubber's set out this weekend to have some fun, I would have like to have tagged along but it was not to be. So we went fishing, of sorts.

We headed further up into the Hunter Valley to a block at Monkerai Mountian. Pitched a tent, went exploring and tried our luck chasing the elusive yabby which prooved to be to elusive after a variey of baits and dams.

Sunburnt, tired, dry and on empty we returned home this morning to clean out the Dog-O-War, wash clothes and clean up the house. Wasn't that exciting but it was fun and memorable. The boys are worn out and I'm not that far off the same.

We went to the Bendigo swapmeet in Helbus and pottered around the sites on Saturday. Wasn't looking for anything in particular. There was no VW stuff really around anyway.
Picked up a cool piece of VW memorabilia though. A late Beetle shaped 'Avon' brand aftershave bottle! $10. It's black, and although it is not a model car or anything, it is unusual.

I went canoeing with the local scouts at Cowarr Weir and had a great time. I now have my Charge (Canoe Safety) Certificate, so I'm qualified to take the boys at school out canoing. The offshoot is, I also now have access to 9 canoes, and trailer, anytime I need it. :D

I actually had a great time and still want to become a Scout Leader. The boys were great, which is not the kind of kids I'm used to.

We completed most of the training on Saturday in the Weir, and on Sunday we did a quick revision in the morning before stopping for sustainance.

Some twit in a Lancruiser shorty managed to get his rig stuck on some piles of freshly-dumped dirt, trying to be a dickhead.:o

And no, the driver is not in the picture. These guys were just trying to get him out. :)

Worked over-time Saturday nite, to fund the re-build.

Tinkered on the Oval and sorted a few things out; pedals, found some caster shims, yada yada

I didn't see how they eventually got it out (the Rangie was losing traction and breaking the rope - no snatchum strap - "city cowboy":P) because we had to get going for a 4-hour paddle upstream for the practical test, including white-water. :D

It wasn't too exciting (I first did it 20 years ago) but it was fun and relaxing, so I had a great time.

When we got back to the Weir, the grounds were packed! People had even set up their picnics between our cars! :o

I found this parked nearby and thought it was worthy of a couple of snaps. (see pic below)

Thats the scout-leader's troopie with the canoe-trailer just visible over the roof, and my kombi to the left. :thumb

Unfortunately, the shorty had managed to get out of his predicament and disappear by the time we got back. A pity really, because we were hoping he'd ask us to help, in which case we would have asked to a worthy donation for our scout troop!! :D

Hey Colin, what weekend do we cruise to the weir and go canoeing?:D

Sounds like you were in your element, and forgot all about the Bendigo Swap Meet you missed.

Well I took the dog to visit the Tassie ferry, had something to eat in Brunswick St and listen to some cool Cuban music at Johnston St's Latin Festival:)
