Finding the Original Colour


Hihi

Trying to find what colour grimace was back in ye ole days. Any sites that could help me?, Like a site that checks your chasis number, graham mentioned there was a post about this info A while ago.

I dont think chassis number can tell the original colour....Do you have any idea what the original colour was? At all?

theres a little bit of Green Paint I think is turqoise near the battery, I think it is just not sure,

the Chasis # is 4773980

The car looks like a 62 or 63 ???

Then you have hit the nail on the head its Turqoise thats the origional VW colour

Were cars painted by hand back then?, it doesnt look like it was sprayed.

Yep its a 62, Hopefully the germans will send the birth certificate soon :)

But does anyone remember that site graham was speaking about?

If they were painted by hand they would still be building the last of the 21 million cars...

Yes they were sprayed in a large booth several at a time.
