Late Bay kombi factory brochure
Does anyone out there have a VW brochure showing a Kombi fitted with a middle front seat?
It's the ones that go between the driver and passenger seat over the walk through section.
If so, could I get a copy of the page showing the picture.
I am fitting one to Andy and need to get approvals to convert from an 8 to a 9 seater. Being able to show it is a factory accessory should make
getting it approved much easier.
Thanks,

I've got a brochure that mentions 9 seat option, but no photographs. Previously I've talked with my VW mechanic about these front middle
seats. His father started the business late 50's/early 60's so he has been around VW's a while. His recollection was they were not
available in WA at least because 8 seats was (is still?) the maximum capacity for standard driver's licence. I do know of a 68-71 on the road in
Perth with the middle front seat.
Why not go over the pits as 8 seat and fit the 9th seat later?

Don't know if it will help, but try this address:
http://www.type2.com/bartnik/t2manual.htm
then pages 11-13.
Good luck.

Thanks guy's.
The best I have so far is
http://www.volks-factory.nl/folders/t2-78/pagina_14_van_30.htm
but still doesn't show the tripple separate seats in the front.
I know of that one modulus, but didn't find any pics.
Kombi69, I much prefer things leagle I will get it passed as a 9
seater, it's just easier if you can show it is an original factory option.
Cheers,

Andy,
is the difference the three-up-front seating? Do you have a bulkhead across behind the front seat? (that's what I have in the Doka, a
driver's seat and a two-place bench).

Well, if you want the full story .
The seat I pictured above (what I have) was an option to turn an 8 seat microbus with walk through into a 9 seater. It bolts to the top of the front
seat pedistal and to the 1/3 bulk head behind each front seat and covers the walk through area. There are extra mount points next to the existing seat
belts to attached a seat belt to for the third seat.
It's a little more difficult for me as Andy doesn't have any bulkhead behind the front seats from the factory (one of the reasons I chose
this model). As best I have found out this model never had the 9 seat option. As all the mount points are still there, I am modifying the seat so it
will fit Andy and convert to a 9 seater.
I already have a blue plate for the turntables I fitted under the two front seats, so I don't see any issues in making a further change to a 9
seater, it's just a lot easier process if you say, here's a factory brochure showing a factory option seat that I have just bolted into
mine.
The reason I am doing this now is Andy is being fitted out for an extended tour of Oz and will have no rear seats for the trip. Some where along the
journey our nephew will spend a week with us, hense the need for a third seat

Bummer,
I was just thinking whether a Double-Cab brochure showing the front seats would do the trick, but really not as these are mounted to a full-width
bulkhead and, as such, would have a completely different set of mounts... probably wouldn't even convince Mr. Magoo.
Good luck...

Andy, I've got a Kombi brochure 1/77, on a specs page it has under " Additional items on VW Kombi" "At extra charge: seating
equipment for 5 to 9 persons".
If this is any help U2U me your name & address and I'll photocopy and send to you.

yes, you've got U2U. I've scanned this brochure plus one for the aussiekombikampers, but the files are huge. I'd like to find a way to
make them smaller so everyone can have a look, any plain english instructions for a luddite?

mmmm
So you are trying to confuse the poor engineer ?? Is that correct ??
The Delux version you have did not come with a 9 seater option, so even if you get a picture / info it will be incorrect for your bus.
The seat you have is weak as piss without the bulk heads to support to. You could mount it in andy but you woul dneed a full width support to do it
to. This support wil hav no factory holes so will need full compliance anyway.
I am still amazed you got your turntables tagged though so I would be going back to see that guy.

Thanks Kombi69 :thumb
Yes to your first two Q's Brad.
You haven't seen how I will mount it yet, don't worry it will be solid, more so than original and without a bar behind the driver/pass.
seats.
What's wrong with the turn tables I have? They are secure enough, unless your on about the SS bolts??
