Snapped Clutch Cable!!!

Was driving home from work tonight, and just got on the ramp to go over the Anzac bridge and the clutch cable snapped on the splitty! Stuck in the middle lane, I managed to coast over to the left.

Just as I did, a guy in a Bay pulled up behind me and I recognized him as the earthy bloke that was at Boris's picnic day up the far end with his missus selling hand painted pics of beetle and buses.

Being a splitty I didn't have hazard lights (which made things difficult) so the guy whos name I didn;t get drove behind me with his hazards on, whilst I started her up in first and hit the gas.

Managed to get to the off ramp and round the corner up on the curb. Thanks to the guy in the bay. Just shows the kindness of some people.

Had a clutch cable in the back, and my tools, and would of changed the cable there and then, but I was dressed in a suit, so I got the good old NRMA to tow me to a friends workshop in Botany to do the job on a hoist!.

This got me thinking...Is there a way to wire up a switch so that you can turn all four indicators on in an emergency and give a hazard signal. Anyone done this?

Cheers

Steve

Dave's version would be nicer, but you can use any kind of switch and use it to connect the left and right indicator circuits in parallel. Flick the switch to 'on' and turn your indicators on (either way, doesn't matter) and all four corners will light up. :thumb

I once had a HQ with this arrangement and couldn't work out why all the blinkers came on every time I took a corner! :o

I had the same thing happen to me further down from anzac bridge but i was in the right lane:o

man some cars came close to hitting me:o

I just left the the parkers on and right indicator and left the hood up people worked it out but the people speeding didnt

Lucky a guy helped me push it the side he did a lap cos he fell in love with my beetle seeing it the first time so he helped me out

Funny I ran into him at KK that last meet we had he had a flat battery so i jump started his sweet Mazda 60's wagon:beer
