15inch stock steelies - why hasnt this been thought of?

was looking in VMA and noticed that the last generation brazilian bug has stock 15inch steel wheels with VW hubcaps on. i presume that all late bugs have 14inch wheels (like the later busses) and i wondered why nobody has ever imported the Brazilian wheels to spice up the look of their bug a little, while leaving it to apear basically stock, also would be good for those putting an early bug on a late pan, u can have wheels the right size to match the body.
why hasnt anyone done this? why dont any of the companies that import brazilian components consider this?

Mexican Beetles - NLA

Yes,
ALL Beetles from the early 50's had 15 inch wheels. I know up to 1951 had 16 inch wheels. and the last Beetles in Production were Mexican Beetles not Brazillian beetles. I asked an Importer why We never see Mexican VW spare parts and He said Its too difficult to get anything from Mexico because of corruption... Most VW parts still come from Brazil, the USA & parts of Europe..

I think he means widened 15in wheels. The pic in VMA showed the beetle ultima with some wide looking steelies, probably 5.5 or 6in wide judging by the pics.
