Painting soon, Im stripping bonnet, engine lid, but trying to paint on roof, I can't remember what grit to scruff the paint up with?. I know its 600 grit for primer but what about scruffing to paint over 2k?.

Hope that made sense

if your just scuffing, 600 would be fine, probably too fine. maybe 300?

600 is ok, 300 and you might end up with some scratch marks showing through. If you are painting metalic you could go as fine as 800 - 1000.
Whatever grade you use after youve finished rubbing and washed it down, let it dry and you can see the shiny bits youve missed. Its then easy to rub these bits down so as the paint will stick everywhere.

Scotchbrite with a drop of dishwashing liquid is good. You get an even scuff with no scratch marks.
