Kombi Campers Cheat Sheets

At the Aussie Kombi Campers website, you can now print out one-page tuning and troubleshooting information for your 1700/1800 or 2 litre Kombi; we call them "cheat-sheets".

Visit:
http://www.aussiekombicampers.com/cheat_sheets.shtml
to get one.

I'd be eternally grateful (well, OK, grateful for a few minutes..) if somebody would:
- critique the sheets that are there and/or
- prepare the information for the 1200 - 1600 engines...

Enjoy.

Darn, I thought you were talking about cheet engineers reports so you can re register a camper that has been out of rego for a while.

I just went through all that, flaming do good bureaueucrats make it near impossible with out a $500.00 engineers report, sux especially when its been registered as a camper from new.

Cheat Sheet - Tappet Clearance

Should the tappet clearance be 0.006" not 0.008"?

Well spotted, grouch.

According to my Haynes manual, 1700 and 1800 engines after chassis number 213 2210 554 have sodium filled exhaust valves for which the clearance must be .008. The manual concludes "if you are in any doubt...set the valves to .008... there may be some tappet clatter but you will not burn the valves".

I haven't got room for that story, but thought it better to go with .008 than risk someone burning a valve.

Thanks for looking carefully...

Now those I could sell, rather than give away. Did you get it through with all the seats counted?

my gregorys says .008 for exhaust and .006 for inlet, for the 1800 that is.2l should be 006 for both.apparently 1700's had a bit of either depending on engine nos.HTH cheers

Thanks guys....

I'll try to find a way to phrase it accurately, but with all the replacement heads/valves etc. out there it 's a little tricky.

Not something to lose sleep over, because if you ask 5 people to set eight clearances at .008 and another five to set eight clearances at .006, while lying on their back under a Kombi and manipulating a screwdriver, spanner and feeler gauge, you'd be hard-pressed to guess which group was which from the end results.

How about :

.006"
(.008" for sodium-filled valves)

Hi Blue Bus,
The only thing 'carburetted', so to speak, on the 2 litre cheat sheet is the idle speed. For the FI engine, this should be 850-950 rpm (or 900-1000 for automatic g'box), slightly higher than for the carburetor engine.
Other than that, the data are the same.

hth
