what's the cost of replacing the floorpan on a 69 bug
the dreaded tinworm has done the job on my 69 sardine top - been leaking rather too much over the last 8 months I think.
so I now need a new floorpan. the panel beater i was recommended won't touch it, and I have no idea what the costs are for this
I need to know, is it it worth fixing?
who's recommended to do this?
how much of it can be done myself with very limited beetle knowledge?
and how is the body fastened to the floor pan? (hopefull here! bolted?)
be a shame to break it - good motor, and trim, big wheels, honda seats etc etc, and rego til next bloody january
any help appreciated!

You can buy new pan halves and they aren't toooo hard to fit. I think they are $150-ish a side, and fitting/welding them can be done in a day or
so... assuming all goes well

You can buy another pan or complete 12v beetle for less than $300. You would be able to find one without rust in the floor.
You will just have to keep the small bit of floor with the numbers on it and replace the whole pan.
Good opportunity to do a pan with a good quality rustproofing on it.

how are these beetley things put together, I've been looking for pictorial clues!
is there a chassis, with the body bolted on in 1 piece, or is it a moncoque? or a bit of both!! I really can't work it out
maybe I should buy a workshop manual!!
any pics/diagrams/ would be a great help
