1958 Manual Choke question.
I have a 58 that i have just got started. Problem is it will not start unless you pull the manual choke on. Problem is manual choke
is not hooked up and I have to get out and tie it open with string then start the car then once it's warm unhook it.
The next problem is once it is warm, and it definitely is, if you stop it and try and start it again it just will not start. It just cranks over all
the time. Tie the manual choke back open and it starts first go again. Then un tie it and it runs fine.
Is there any way I can disconnect this manual choke set up so it will start with out having to tie it open all the time or do i have to connect it to
start the bloody thing.
Also the fan shroud only appears to have one hole for the accelerator cable. Where exactly does the manual choke cable run if I was to buy a new one.
I know you can get them.

the manual choke hole in the fan housing is about 10 mm above the accelerator cable.
Vintage in Sydney has some origional cable available S/H there a bit of a bitch to fit or remove the old one from the tunnell.
If your not worried about being origional you could get a later model 40hp carby with an electic choke and fit that only requires a wire from the
coil to the choke.

40hp carb sounds good. might do that. Is there a reason though why the original one will not start unless the choke is on regardless of whether she is
hot or cold?
How much are the new cables from vintage (complete knob and all)?

wouldn't all that mentioned above have nothing to do with that the car will start with choke on ,run when warm without choke??? sounds like a carby
issue!
