HELP...Who has lowered the rear of a type3 IRS

C'mon guys...there must be someone who can give me some advise.

Have adjusted plenty of swing axle torsion bars but not an IRS. It looks pretty straight forward but i'm stuck.

I have all the brakes, backing plate etc gone the cv joint disconnected and the shock disconnected but I cant get enough travel on the trailing arm to get a jack under the spring plates.
Ive seen on other forums where they say you can swing the trailing arm out of the road.

I thought i'd just take the trailing arm off so went and bought a 17mm inhex socket got the bolt undone but it won't withdraw out of the housing. Any ideas ?
Don't know the setup in there so I don't want to get brutal yet.

Anyone got anything to add.
