some people are like slinky's
they have no useful purpose
but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs

Sports Bug was a special edition Beetle in 1973

The "Sports Bug" was an optioned out Beetle sold in the UK & North America & Maybe elsewhere... but NOT here..
I think it may have been a standard Beetle & NOT a SuperBug, from memory.. There was also the Sun Bug, the June Bug, the GT Beetle [standard ], the chocolate Beetle, the 1974 Jeans Beetle, and the 1975 Le Grande Beetle [ a Super Beetle} and in 1974 there was the Brazillian "Super Fusca" which was a 1600cc standard Beetle with fancy steel wheels, a Tachometer, Twin Carburetors, clock & reclining seats, later it also included a temperature gauge... and in 1981 the "silver Bug" [standard] with metallic silver paint..
So, there were many attempts to "tempt" the Beetle buying public to purchase a New special edition beetle....
Some of these were sold in the UK and some in the USA in different years...
