kombi problems with timing or sumthin like that .. plz help

well this is the prob.
the other day i was driving to work n my kombi just had a srious drop in power and could not hold in 3rd gear so i drove to work in 2nd (lucky i only work up the road) so i came home n readjusted the timing with a timing light and set it bak to 8 degrees it was sitting on about 20degrees (way to high). after that it was fine and ran for about 3 day no probs then it done it again so this time i went out n bought new points and a new condensor and set everything right. and now its continues to have the same prob. Wat the hell is wrong with it. Is it electrics or not, or could it be something to do with fuel????
thanx guys

WTF?
If the problem is the same with the ignition timing advanced right up then what has fuel got to do with it??????

I suggest you check that the securing bolt for the distributor clamp plate and the catual clamp itself is actually "clamping" the distributor firmly.

Timing dont advance itself up to buggery unless the dizzy is allowed to rotate one way or other or the points magically open up.

Logic dictates that the dizzy would tend to retard the timing if it were loose but stranger things happen.

Try that dude
