a lot is 2 words

Okay maybe it's the teacher coming out in me, but i am determined to change a wrong not just here but everywhere. Please Note that the term 'a lot' as in: a lot of money, a lot of things, a lot of cute girls driving beetles etc etc is definately, always, forever two words. The word 'allot' as in distribute or asign by lot is one word and never ever means many of something . Please spread the word and help me fight the evil bastardisation of the English written word.
