Some interior pics - as I found her.

Pretty grungy. Rotten carpet but rubber mat ok. Steering wheel starting to decay and everything covered in 44.5 years of use, but nothing tampered with and everything there.

Bit of a clean

Pulled out carpet and will stitch up new set from German Square weave. I'll re upholster front seats only, rear in great nick. Door trims came up like new. Liner is lovely. (except under rear window). Restored steering wheel and just cleaned and detailed dash.

Pretty happy with DIY wheel resto- thanks Sasha/Delux

Sasha at Delux (try them if you're in Melbourne) suggested I have a go at doing the wheel. Searched everywhere for a good one, but as I'm discovering, what's already there is just fine. Just needs a tidy up. That's the wonderful thing about these cars, they were made to last. If you look after them, they become your own mobile museum.

Well picked. It's actually a sticker or a card, don't know, over the actual MPH face. Like to get rid of it actually but scared to get in there.
She says thanks for the complimentary remarks btw.

That looks stunning! Perfect stance, the whitewalls and red wheels set it off beautifully too. One of the best lookers I've seen yet I reckon.

That speedo is a little bit rare. It is factory Oz, and has both kph and mph on the face.. Nice item.

Thanks Bill. Very kind of you.
Hey Jim, the plate on the car says "made in West Germany." Would it be a full import, or would it have been CKD. I thought it may have been just prior to Australian production, but wouldn't know. I must get the birth cert.
The reason I ask is because the speedo is a MPH jobbie, and has had an almost donut shaped card fitted over it with KLMs. The nephew of the owner told me that Uncle Ted (bless him), was quite impressed when his speedo went metric. So I reckon it may have been a local dealer fit for those who wanted to move with the times.
