Cal look- California look-drag strippers of the 60's-70's. Big engines, striped off of all body trim, BRM[skinny front|wide rear tyres. slammed at the front Monotone paint etc etc

Stock- as name suggests to mods, original vehicle

German Look- Race engine|highlymod running gear(blown, forced induction, 2win turbo'ed), BIG wheels + brakes(usually Brembo|porsche, fully tuned suspension, Carbon fibre bits, Hi tech stuf etc etc

Resto Cal- Slammed stock cars with white wallz, period accessories etc

and there are others too.....W :P

A Ratty is when you pull out a stock engine, and replace it with a number of rodent exercise wheels, linked to the transmission system via belts and shafts.

It is a system developed in Nimbin to run Kombi's on household rubbish. Very environmentally sound! It is just that your Garage smell's after a while from all the rat droppings, so you have to stay on top of that.

i thought the look of "oldeschool" was when u had slammed stock cars with period assesories(as many as possible) such as lots of chrome and visors and eye lids and a thermodor perhaps..........and that "resto custom" was a car that had been restored but the restorer had added personal touches like mags.....maybe a better exhaust....maybe changed the seats etc.

Here's some from a picture gallery site.....select from...

Baja
Cal look
Custom
French Look
Fusseltuning
German look
Old School
Other
Primer look
Race Look
Racing
Rat Look
Resto-Cal
Vintage

I think I'll either concentrate on "Fusseltuning" or "Other" for my ride.... something's definitely missing, as there's no "Ukulele Look" for that Hawaian-style bug....

The French are very stylish, they just don't know shit about cars. Never let them touch your electronics. Bad idea!

don't know about VWs Killakornkob but otherwise french style is zee best!! ;) the best way to find out about the french style might be to take some introductory french lessons and save up for a plane ticket...

and I was told the "crappy, poor person, second hand bits, unrepaired dints, sticky taped headlights look" was called dunger or turd look. But I'd like to think my shitty old 63 of something other than turd look... has anyone one got a better name? A shitty loooking VW is still a VW, not a turd!!

Nah, no hard feelings.. I have thicker skin unless it is plain old abuse.

This spacer you speak of for the decklid is called a decklid standoff(s), one for each hinge. You can get them at most VW shops..

The other stuff gets harder..
