Its always that top hinge / windscreen are that is that bastard to repair after a decent front hit!!!
Good to see Fleur is OK, but still must be heartbreaking to see the hard work all banged up like that.
At least you know what your next project is !!!!!

...bugger, I hate seeing pics like that...more for the mental pain than anything else...perhaps you could run us through the repair process as I am
sure that quite a few of us will have to do a repair like this in the future (I'm in the middle of one just like this right now, and the kink in the
passenger side quater panel, just infront of the hinge is the hardest thing to fix)...and hints?
Good luck with the repairs.

I don't know the story. Did you fix up the paint and forget about the brakes?
Hope your Wife is O.K. physically. I know she's got to be hurting spiritually.

The brakes steering, suspension and tyres were all done before it was painted. Operating perfectly. Driver error unfortunatley.

I think the vehicle towing the trailer was a dual cab ute. The guy is a plumber or something, so I imagine he would need good grip and possibly 4WD to
get onto muddy work sites.
He was just a pig about the whole situation.

That's because it was a Tandem trailer with 4WD wheels on it so it was pretty high. The beetle hit the RHS steel below the tailgate.

I think it is so dangerous how some vehicles are so high compared to others.
I know its horrible to imagine, but can you see a beetle being well off if it was hit from the side by a landcruiser, patrol, pajero, mdx, mercedes or
bmw 4wd?? I can imagine the 4wd going straight over, whereas any normal sedan would just push in the side, same as if a beetle hit a sedan. If a
beetle hit a 4wd on the side then it would go underneath. 4wd's need body skirts for when they are just driving on the road, especially in the city. |
