How to check a Alternator ?

Hello!

I'm looking to purchase a second hand Alternator, as mention it is in good condition. To save money this is my option, go for a second hand unit.

Can someone tell me what I have to look out before purchasing ? Anything I have to check and what tells if it's a good one or not ?
