designing a dash

I'm thinking about cutting up my existing dash in my 58 beetle to make way for new gauges. I want a taco, oil temp sender, clock (maybe), speedo, petrol sender. The dash at the moment is perfect however I'm going to cut behind the steering wheel and where the radio goes. I'm leaving the glovebox and the switches for the wipers and headlights. Just wondering firstly what people thought of this idea and secondly if anyone has pics of what they've done in the past (for ideas). The dash will end up green and I want white faced gauges.
Cheers
Ryan
