Help! in brisbane (Striker plates)
ahoy hoy,
Having trouble with my passenger door striker plate, Ive had the pillar repaired before with welding less then 3 months ago, Im sure its the striker
plate,
You see I removed it to Paint the pillar, now the door pops open driving, gosh thats pisses ME OFFFFFFFF,
Anyway. I was wondering if someone in Brisbane who knows how to adjust it. would be willing to drop by or we could come to you, and you could Have a
quick look for me
Wanted to go for a drive on Monday to get some photos of the car and I dont want that bloody door opening at 100km/h.
Have tried adjusting it but Im certainly no expert and it hasn't fixed it
Or any tips on how to adjust it

Early Beetle door lock striker plate adjustment.

Maybe You need a few shims behind the striker..
Maybe its too far away from the door when its shut & there is not enough metal to hold it closed... I haven't done an early door for many many
years....
Surely there is someone in the Brisbane area that can adjust it for You...
I've only had late model door experience in the past 20 years... so I can't even guess...
You have an adjustable wedge at the top that is adjusted to stop the door lock from rattling...
Check the striker plate to ensure that the faces of the plate are not excessively worn, particularly on the shoulders. Check the plastic wedge for
wear. If wear is excessive at any points above, the striker plate assembly should be renewed...
The adjustable stop prevents the wedge from deflecting when the body is subject to torsional stress or road shocks. The adjustment screw allows the
stop bush to position the wedge so that it cannot move out of place when the door is closed....
That is part of the adjustment info in the Gregorys Australian repair manual No:46...
