Scent Of Veedub

My car lately has been smelling petrolly for some reason

Checked the back and everything fine the smells coming from the tank

Could it be that i need a new fuel tank lid?

What do they go for?

Also my fiancee complains that i smell of vee dub, does that mean us Aussieveedubbers smell?

Ah well its all good cos we'll all smell together at Valla :party

its a good smell he's just jealous and maybe you just need a new cap gasket I made 1 out of 2-3mm rubber for mine and 1 for my daughter and the petrol fumes went.

I had the petrol fume problem as well, it turned out the previous owner used a toyota fuel cap that didn't fit probably and it was leaking esp. if i fill it up to the top....

And it crazed the paint under the fuel cap next to the fender
:cussing

a new fuel cap was the fix, it's prob a different problem for you tho...

as with the veedub smell, isn't it because of the material used for the seats? someone mentioned it's horse hair or something?!?!

My first beetle had an odd petrol smell also, when I got it checked the mechanic sort of chuckled and I could never work out why until I bought another oldie 10 years later ..... it smells the same !
