Rhys
The WHITE wire is to the coil as you see it has a loop in it this is for the pulsations from the coil.
You need a direct power supply whch would be to the box and proberly the RED wire.

Try this:
Red: Switched +ve 12V
Green: Chassis
Pink: Light
White: Coil -ve (points)
That's pretty common coding. You can stick a multimeter from the case of the tach to the green to make sure it's ground (should be about 0.4ohms.)
If you were to switch the coil and supply wires it won't do any harm, it just won't work.

hey
there are 2 white coloured wires coming out from the same terminal do they both go to the -ve side of the coil???
and were the red wire goes the 3 outlets say from bottom to top (as per pic) it says 12V , + , 6V the
the 12V wire looks to be earthed out and the red wire on the + is the power????
cheers

Hey I have run that eact one of those in my bug, but got rid of it. Now I cut the wire from the neg side of the coil and then ran this foward to the
gauge and then back to the engine. I will have a look at mine and tell you how I had it hooked up. Also try lil dub as she runs the same in her type
3, she (or mabye get one of us)may be able to have a look under the dash
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
