I like standard not just looks though.

The standard lenses kick up the beam slightly to the left (for road signs etc.) on RHD vehicles, whereas I dont think the US spec ones do because it's not required by their laws.

I've had bad experiences with sealed beams as well, I know they are different but I used to have rossi lights - which were about as bright as the park lights on low beam! Switching to standards with halogen globes makes it like a normal car!:)

If you do something with the inside of the bucket like "Cool 56" and others have done, it can look right with US lenses. The 'ol black n white chequerboard look has gotta work on yours.

not just saying this to go against the flow but i don't mind the US spec ones.
They kinda look neater.
but thats just my humble opinion.

Hi

I like standard with Porsche lenses. The US spec lights with the clear lense can be fitted with local H4 sealed beams, best of both worlds I reckon.

I prefer the US Spec headlamps with modern Quartz Halogen sealed beams or Semi sealed Beams, with Quartz Halogen 'Narva plus 50' bulbs 50% Brighter same Wattage..

I put Kyoto semi sealed beams with Quartz Halogen bulbs in My Sons 56 Oval.. I like the look of those..

US Sealed Beams usually made by GE.. don't have the European cutoff headlamp pattern in the Lens..
My Sons Baja has US sealed Beams , and when I was adjusting them , You can see either filament , when they are lit as there is NO cover over either filament .. they should be illegal as they are deadly if slightly out of alignment..
The European headlamps as used in VWs in Australia are illegal in the USA...
They have had sealed beams in the US since the 40s..
[as its the Law] . probably because they were superior to other headlights made in other countries...
Just a bit of info...
