sadly, this question is open to cynicism,
Silvers offer is good, except he can only do two colours

When I painted the outside of our beetle it cost $400 just for the paint alone, no labour, and that is the cost price to us - a panel shop.

At the moment I am painting just the sections that Fleur smashed.

You won't get a respray for under $1500, and I wouldn't complain too much if your not happy with the job. A back yarder might be a little bit cheaper. You would expect the paint used would be air dry enamel, or acrylic.

While the other guys have been shooting the breeze, I've gotten to and painted your ride; one coat pink primer, one coat chrome yellow, left over from my truck.

Total price $0.00; hope you're happy....

The paint job will vary in cost depending on whats underneath, how far you go back either just a scuff or a full strip back 2 bare metal.

Once the old paint is off you never know what you will find

also what type of paint you use. 2 pak, air dry enamel or acrylic ??? 2 pak being the more expensive and more costly to apply, oven time cost money so does masking.

theres alot in painting and preparing a car, its not simple just to apply it, with a spray gun. Rubbing back can take you a good 2 days to get a good surface to apply the paint to.

Once again CHEAP is dangerous. :puke:puke

i have had a few quotes in melbourne for my beetle. i will be changing the colour but i am stripping the car myself. will hand it over to them with nothing in it that they have to mask up so this saves them time and me money. There is some panel work to be done also. cheapest for inside and out was $3000 to most expensive $9000 (and the guy was going up and up and up!!! - i stopped him at 9...)

see.... air and water do mix ;)

dont know what i would have gotten for 9000 but he was talking all sorts of stuff that i had no idea what he was on about... didn't really think he wanted the job just quoted high in case i was stupid enough to say yes. he said there was not much panel work to be done but was gonna bead blast the paint off (for about $2000 on its own)... so i quietly got back in the car and left... my wife and i just looked at each other then went to the next place.
