IRS: is there anyone other than INDIAN AND CBB??!

About to part with a few grand to have my 63 split bus IRS'd...

Whenever I hear talk of IRS I hear Indian and CBB in Sydney... but I'm on the Gold Coast = $$$ transporting costs on top of an already expensive job.

IS there anyone else who will do it an equally professional specialist job? I just rang Custom Offroad in Brisbane but George was crook apparently... but has anyone heard of him IRSing a splitty? I've heard he's a good man to deal with.

Anyone else I should contact?

Or is it worth getting done by the pros (Indian/CBB)?

I have seen several of the jobs CBB have done and they have been excellent.

Can't say I've seen any of the others around.

i am doing the same thing well deciding on straight axel or irs. cbb is very good and indians are very good as well, i have seen some posts on the samba about some satisfied customers from indians and thats in the states, so i am sure if you want a cbb or an indian irs kit you could get it shipped to your mechanic of choice and get it fitted ,i would just go for the one which is cheaper ,both are very good quality for sure.
silver is running indians irs maybe ask him how it is
personally i think i will be going with the cbb straight axel conversion two guns is running its about $1400 complete with discs compared to around $2500 plus for irs

A mate of mine used Indian's kit. He had agreed to use some 2nd hand parts in the kit. Some of the parts sent were in such poor condition that I wouldn't want to see ANYONE use them.

Make sure if you use them you agree to be able to return any parts that are 2nd hand, and no good for the job, at their cost.

I've just had the Indian kit shipped over here and installed by my local mechanics. It is such a good kit, that if I ever have to buy another, I will install it myself.
You always have to use second hand parts with the kit, the kit is only the conversion parts (which come in excellent condition). The condition of second hand parts varies greatly, what's usable for one person might be seen as useless to others.

I installed the Indian kit myself a few years back and couldnt be happier. It was the most major piece of work I had done at that stage but I had no problems ( apart from dropping a CV on the road because i hadnt tightened it properly ) it was really pretty straight forward and Kimm was allways ready to answer any of my stupid questions.

Indian

I know Kimm well. He only sells properly tested (years of kms on his own cars), RTA approved kits. He is very committed to his customers and will do anything in his power to help interms of after sales service. That is my personal experience of him.
I am surprised to here that someone wasn't happy with 2nd parts they bought of him because I have found him to be a perfectionist. He wouldn't sell anything unusable or even slightly crappy.
Mike Kristen from CBB actually used to work for him.

Ring Kimm and talk to him. I think you will find him very helpful and knowledgable. He probably knows of someone in your area who could install the IRS for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

The CV joints provided were badly pitted,

in other words "f@cked"!!

Surprised?
When the customer found out he was more than surprised, let me tell ya!

I can't really comment on the parts in question not having seen them but, I don't think Kimm would have sent them if he thought them unusable.

Did he ring Kimm and talk to him?

Kimm's only human, he makes mistakes like anyone else.

I am sorry about your mate's problems with the 2nd hand part's from indian, but you could have the same problem with 2nd handies from any shop or wrecker.

(I have bought an expensive, badly made kit and can I understand that you are frustrated. :( In my experience Kimm's kits are not like that, that's all. :) )

To everyone else:
I took you off topic abit. Sorry about that. This thread is about IRS conversion kits and I think the IRS kit parts that Indian have made are top notch.
