cat converters on vw motors ??

we are getting very close to have to fit cat converters to vw and every other type of car and machine that comes into Australia .I have just purchased a industrial motor from over seas and that has a cat fitted to it !

So where can we purchase a off the shelf system that fits vw beetle ect .
I have a book from over seas it shows the system but does not give any further details .

The US would be the go b/c they had catalytic converters (at least in California) from the mid 70s.

Correct..
VW Beetles sold in North America have had Catalytic converters since 1975... they usually only had One exhaust pipe... they were fitted to the 1303S Karmann Cabriolets until they were phased out in the USA in 1979...

You will need the larger rear valance... such as the fibreglass ones made & sold by John Sherman in QLD..

I cannot see them making old cars conform to new car regulations...

this will not be old cars lic and on the road now ,its when you got get a car that has been out of lic passed for road worthy they will get you ! I know I my mates kit car was just knocked back on first aplication for build !
.if it has been rebuilt to bad still will require cat fitted .New laws to be passed soon this will effect all states .

So it will pay big time to find out the motor you can use before you go ahead will the $ ,so any one wish to buy a new 1641 webbers forged pistion kit new heads ect ect ? and no cat

I need to find a company over seas that I can buy from off the shelf so any ideas would be good .I do not wish to make them as will need a few like 20 of first order .

Hi

All you would need to do is use a 4 into 1 extractor, then fit the cat before muffler, you could use any generic cat.
