splitty interior ideas - not camper
My interior is naked!!
First up I'm going to need door and wall panels... anyone got patterns?
If not I'm thinking of getting coathangers and bending them to the shape of the door and tracing that...
then get MDF and cover it in a thin layer of foam and some kind of material - maybe that grey and black car carpet stuff... any ideas?
Then the floor? I'm thinking again MDF or ply or, either plain or covered in come kind of carpet, or rubber mats liek the one on the floor in the
front and like I had in my 77...
should keep me going for a while, any ideas to get me started??!

i always liked the niteclub booth look in the back of a splitty. you swing open the side doors to reveal a u shape booth. velour trim u shape love
seat with the right mood lighting and pictures and shit. venetian to screen the back from the front. there is an island bench. under the bench is a
minifidge and bar with its back to teh door. this way you can go to vw shows and events. park swing opent the doors sit in the back with friends and
chat and drink martinis or the like from your own private minibar.
wanted to do this in my bus, but alas not allowed, but here it is. go for it 356. will look cool and i would be happy to drop in for a drink.

I've seen a bus where the guy ran silicon around all the ribs to stop vibration he said it made a big differance but I think even a tar based body
deadener that you get from the hardware store would have positive results and help stop rust too.just dont forget the plastic sheet. I think when my
bus gets to the body work stage I might go with alot of the suggestions in the site, heaps of work but then I plan on keeping my bus for a long while

If its a beachy type kombi, I've always thought about timber slats on the floor with deck chair seating, and an internal surboard carrier in the top
of the roofspace. Cheap, cheerful and different.

I just did my '59. Used masonite (hardboard) will not be damaged by moisture. Cut paper to suit all the panels, then transfer it to the board. You
can soak the masonite and fit to all curves and when it dries it keeps the shape.

That's what I was after. Thanks all!
I like the idea of masonite, hadn't even thought of that. I'm actually not too keen on MDF for the reason that it's stuffed as soon as it gets wet.
Also pretty easy to break...
So I soak it in the bath for a while then take it straight out to the van, bend her into place and drill the corners to keep it in place? Or is
drilling unnecessary?
MAtara, in my old bay I used to have a single stick of dowl running across between the two handles in the ceiling above the back seats. Could fit
three surfboards up there. Great for camping! Will work out someway to do something similar in the splitty...

just hose it down before you put it in and a few screws to hold it. I bent mine before I covered them therefore you could then cover your holes and
have secret fixings.
