Simpsons - Punch Buggy??
This is great!! Just seen it on the Simpsons.
See a bug and say 'Punch Buggy White' or whatever colour and then punch someone on the arm.
My girlfriend used to play it apparently (She's Ozzie), but in England we have no such thing.
This could make those VW Klub events a bit of a hazard |

I do believe that VW club members are exempt from this game.
Besides its unfair when you smack someone when you see a type 3, the wider community aren't that switched on.

vws on simpsons
saw this on the simpsons tonight too.....ahhh....love dubs on the simpsons.....
we never did the "punch buggy" thing in my family - though i know plenty who did - as a "vw family" we were above calling beetles "punch
buggies" my older brother bought his first oval when he was 11......so we were too cool for skool heheh.
recently my non-vw-loving boy has started this new VW spotting game ------ its a classic --- he is totally addicted to it!! he even calls me from work
just to say - saw a kombi ute and a beetle, i'm up 2 points.
its actually getting a bit annoying!!! oh god what have i created???????
have decided that type 3's are worth 2 points though, cause they are rarer and they are special to me.......
needless to say i kick his arse --- its quite scary when we are driving together, i ALWAYS see the vw first....its like veedub-radar.....that's been
fine tuned since childhood or something.
i have to "call" it though - i only get points if i can name hat kind of vw it is.....got points deducted yesterday for calling a Bora a Golf.
doh.
got my arse kicked though when we drove past the volkswagen dealership in bowen hills though. he was like "vw. vw. vw. oh my god. vw
VOLSKWAGEN!!!!!!"
lame-o.
kinda cute though - i'm converting him. slowly. oh so quitely. but he will be a vw worshipper sooner than he realises!!! |

my random bit for the day...i was talking to one of the ground-staff over here, and he didn't know what a whipper-snipper was. they call them
'strimmers', or 'strummers' or something absurd like that. very funny conversation i have to say.

Beetles are just so distinctive.
I remember as a kid there was a lady up the road who had a 'punch buggy' Her car was exempt after a while because we would see it a couple of times
a day.
I don't really recall what other models of cars people drove from when I was under 10 yrs old except for that one. They really do stand out.

well i was driving a bus full of kids and they were all bored so i intruduced them to the game. one punch for a bettle and 2 punches for every thing
else VW. well that was a mistake as all vans soon became Kombi's and there were a few sore arms after the half our trip. They also didn't realise
how many different types of VW there were. mind you the game is now living on for another generation and a few kids will hopefully end up drinving a
classic

Similar to Thorun's 'point' style VW game, we used to count beetles when I was a kid. The most we ever got was 50 in a day. I doubt you'd get
anywhere close to that now. Unless you went to a show....
Dad used to go the back streets and look up peoples driveways to get more
Once we decided to count white vs other colours. It was about even quantities of each.
Kombi's didn't count then, but they do now We used to call them
elephants.
I call it V-Vision. Can't switch it off either... had big problems at my first Nambucca because I kept hearing VWs and turning around
Love it!

Lol, my sister and i used to play that game all the time, we used to travel from adelaide to around victoria alot and it helped pass time. and now
poor ryan i have started playing it again since i bought my bug, mind you i dont worry about the punches, its just a bit of a competion to spot the
beetle or kombi first.
i think that was basically the origin of the game, as some one said beetles are easy to spot and it keeps kids occupied in the car insead of the "are
we there yet, are we there yet" the kids bug each other rather than the driver

punch buggy yeah
me and andrea are punch buggy fanatics. we play to old skool rules any aircooled vw and mki golfs and transporters. we have different sight sayings ie
punch buggy blue, double slap notch back, kombi kick, four (golf)etc. It cracks me up when were driving around or stopped at lights to see the person
in the car next to us punching there passenger as we pull up!When kids we used to play spotto for beetles:party
