Composite material disc brakes...

Not really VW related, but it could be. ;-)

I need to know about composite materials in relation to disc brakes, for a Uni assignment - it's due tomorrow, that's why I'm researching it now - cool hey! :)

I see that some Porsches use composite rotors, and also some top Italian cars.

Anyone know about advantages/problems, and in particular, price differences, between composite and standard cast or machined rotors. What kind of composites and which components of the brake system? Are they recyclable?

I'm supposed to be arguing the case for composites.

Thanks dudes, Aurel
