The carbies where recently cleaned out pretty good. plenty of fuel is going through. anyone have any suggestions? i mean id love to take it to the mechanic but ...i ...err cant get it there.

Go back to basics:-

12 volts at +pos side of coil?
Fat blue spark from coil wire to dist while cranking?
Fat blue spark from spark plug wire to plug/earth?
Spark at number one while at/near top dead centre?
Fuel in tank?
Fuel at carb?
