Awesome ! More than likely the fastest vw engined vw in Australia, no ?
I dont count Autocraft as VW, but I still reckon Mr Penroses car is awesome.
Would love to see some of these drag bugs.....

Yep. The second fastest VW in Australia now...
And still pretty much all VW! Crankcase, gearbox, crank etc.
Autocraft heads.

Yeah running very straight and driving thru the launch rather than wasting time looking at the sky.
Yeah the first run the chute cable caught the release and the kitty litter got a bit of a spray. Thankfully no damage just some time blowing out the
pebbles.
Everyone had smiles on their dials at the end of the meet. And things should get even better as the 142mph pass was done witl clutch slip for the
entire pass! We might see it do a 150mph pass soon!

Can't wait to see CBB and Penrose side by side at Jamboree
Turbo vs Blower
Not to mention another VW sub 10sec car to stick it up the ricers and rotaries.

And all this from an engine that hasn't seen the dyno for some fine tuning yet, and I know what Mikes able to achieve with fine tuning.

It aint a type 1 powered car - its a waterboxer block with the waterjacket machined off. The yanks call them oxyboxers or type 5's.

Sorry the YANKS have nothing to do with Oxyboxers.
They were developed right here in Aussie.

Do any of you guys remember a tube framed Karmann ghia here in NZ. It was campaigned by Steve Radisich (cousin of Paul). He was running 9.9 in the mid
90s in that car - that was a T1 case, running a side draught dell and a turbo, with a Dave Kawell camshaft and heads
He tried to sell the car as a going concern, but ended up splitting it all up, I think the body ended up at the tip... Last time I saw the engine he
wanted 3k for it, I dont think its around any longer.
He chucked it in because the v8 boys gave him so much crap.

Yeah i remember the car, I tried to get him to come over to Aussie in 1995 when Gary Berg was here with his black 67.
It was a very quick car but i think he spent more time apart than together

It was definitely that kind of beast. I saw it blow the aircleaner to pieces on one occassion with a backfire. He never really got enough track time
to prove it outright.
He did mention that he used to leave the line at 7000 rpm, fairly violent sort of stuff on slicks. Went through quite a few 3.88 R and Ps
