Putting a safety harness into a 67 beetle
I would like to fit either a 3 or 4 point harness to my 67. Question is where do i mount it from. From what i can remember from having some a LONG
while ago is that the kit comes with eyelets that go through the floor with a large spreader plate behind it? Is this okay for RTA?

harness's are illegal in street registered cars as it cause shearing of all ya organs when in a crash this is caused because harness's hold u in
tight and usually dont allow much movement and when in a crash ur organs have inertia and just shear off
i was told this at traffic education course i done not sure if it applies to what you are talking about!

so thats why f1 drivers use them?
if used correctly i would assume they are better than inertia reel type.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

They are much better in a crash and they are illegal, but you can fit them and leave your normal seat belt in as well. Call the RTA first to check
though.

i agree i cant see how they would be worse!!!!!!! but it only takes one dickhead for them to change the rules!!!!
i agree its a silly rule but this is what i was told!!!

Hmmmm.... I have harnesses in my car and they are the only belts fitted and thery are legal. Main roads have never had a problem with them. You would
have dramas on newer cars though as they have not been designed and approved to use harneses. On the older beetles which had seatbelts fitted as an
option etc I could not see that you would have a problem as long as the fitment/mounting is approved by an engineer....like you would need for a baby
capsule etc. But then again....different rules for different states....:cussing

I'm hoping aslong as they are passed by an engineer they'd be okay. Have to find out specs etc from RTA i suppose.

And Mick H, what type of belts do you have (Aus/standard or SFI) and are they 4 or 5 point
