If you are talking about powder coating your exhaust the ONLY down side is the cost. BUT when you add better running and it will be the LAST exhaust
you buy it is GREAT value.
If you are NOT talking about ceramic coating then i have no idea.......

I had HPC coating on one of my cars and it was excellent. Not cheap though.:thumb

Probably the only thing bad about HPC is the cost, but if your exhaust is in good condition and you are going to keep your car for a long time it is
well worth it.

I too have only heard good things about HPCing exhausts (except the cost!). It increases the life of the header/extractor/muffler and supposedly gives
some benefit to the engine due to its heat dissipation properties (not sure about this though). Not to mention it looks sweet and does not discolour
(even stainless exhausts do), now available in black as well as the usual silver .....man this sounds like an ad!

Actually HPC, or Ceramic, coatings are a mixture of aluminium and ceramic, which is applied much the same as powder coats, then baked on. So everyone
was right - isn't that nice? I too have only heard good things; including comments from reputable sources that if the coating is also applied to
the inside it will improve performance. :thumb

If your going to do it Jay make sure you buy a brand new exhaust. Once an exhaust has been used it can still be done but it won't last anywhere
near as long!

I'd do it just Jay. Since you spent so much on the rest of the car, and since the vw exhaust is visible from the back I would do it.
Just start with a new exhaust as herb says. It would be a bit of a waste on an old exhaust, and it also would not look as good because the surface
wouldn't be quite as smooth. You could sell your old exhaust if it's in good nick.
I was going to get it done on my baja exhaust but my exhaust is about 7 yrs old so I would've needed a new exhaust. But I didn't want to do
that because I had plans for a different motor not long down the track.

Topless has done the exhaust on his his kombi, ask him.
I think I saw someone quote a figure of around $350 for the whole exhaust, but don't quote me.

I had my Bugcrap merged header and hideaway muffler done by HPC in Brendale, Brisbane for $220. Not too bad relative to the price of the exhaust.

Just noticed an older post asking how this compares to stainless - I had a quote for a stainless system 20 years ago of $1400, sans muffler. I'd
hate to ask what it costs these days.
