legalities of shoertening a bug????


i am wondering if anyone would no the legalities of shortening a beetle
it is already a ute......... with no bodywork over the back....... just a tube tray...
i want to turn it baja style....... and just want to know about shortening
will it then be classified as an individually constructed vehic???
or do i just need engineer approval or what????
any info would be great

As silly as it sounds under the current rules as soon as you shorten it, it becomes an ICV
