let me guess, plan's for jason's blue one??
personally i'd stick to a 2l if you can get it in there and just go a turbo...
that way you get a sneeze and save money if you blow the motor..no that you'd do anything to make it blow..

I think the answer is entirely dependant on how much money you have.... Check out the Pauter
Machine Company, who do cranks up to 96mm and bores up to 108mm!!!

ITW-I have a Type 4 in my Oval which has an 82mm forged counterweighted crank,103 bore with forged pistons and 1800 heads reworked with 48x38
valves. It works out to about 2.7 litre.I bought the motor from an off road racer with all this gear already in it.It came with Porsche cooling and
48mm Webers. If you had to start from scratch to build this up and buy everything new,I would think you would need at least $10,000,probably even
closer to $15,000.I got mine for what I believe was a good price and then stripped it and did a full rebuild with a full balance and crack test and
all new parts.I think mine worked out cheaper than building a big Type 1 from scratch

I have heard they go out to over 3litres but as others have said that is big dollar stuff.
Be cheaper to build a type 1 turbo engine, also be better for legalities that way too.
