Stripped Spark plug threads

Hi

got a stripped plug thread, on the front drivers side cylinder

I'm assuming that it's an engine out, take the head off and get it heli-coiled job?

does anyone have any recommended places to do this, on or near the northern beaches, sydney

also I need some welding doing on my new pan - recommendations for this too please, needs the back half of the drivers side pan doing (it was cut out for using in another bug, not because of rust)

cheers

terry

It can be done in the vehicle, but the bestest way is to remove and inspect the head and check for any other damage.

http://www.timesert.com/

This how they did mine.
Engine in car.

These are better than a heli coil as it is a propper insert and not just a thread.
I have heard a lot of race cars actually put these in new heads.
I guess just like a case saver??

Either way - mine was really good

thanks barry

where did you get it done?

I'm rebuilding the car onto a new pan at the mo anyway, so the head might as well come off while the motor is out
