VWMA Issue#3
Hi All,
A preview of Issue#3 is now up at
http://www.vwma.net.au
Not all the stories are there yet (I'm still workin' on them), but there is enough there to wet the VW apetite.
As mentioned, I will be selling advanced copies at Valla at the usual discount show price of $6, but you'll have to find me as I don't intend to sit
at a stall all day and let the action pass me by.
Look for the VWMA banner, or the Twin Cab or me with a VWMA hat on. Better still, just yell and I'm sure to find you!
Cheers

Subscriptions
Yes, I will make sure that I have some subscription forms.
Yes, Aussie Vee Dubbers has a banner 'plug' in the club section of Issue#3.
An No, it's not plural as in 'their plug' - this magazine is put together by me and my computer - uno numero. And the plug is paid for, thus
helping Brad continue to keep the forum running.
See you at Valla.
Cheers
Craig

Froggy
Send me a pic and some info. I sought through my stories before each issue, so if it's in there I'll make a note of it.
I recently drove my Twin Cab from Sydney to Brisbane with a permit, but the previous owner allowed me to keep the plates on to make the car 'less'
obvious. Had a few close calls with police near or around the vehicle as the rego sticker had now expired, but made it home safely.
Here's an interesting fact. The car is from Melbourne, so I took out the unregistered driving permit in Victoria. Why? Because I did it over the
phone for thirty dollars, with no roadworthy inspection needed and they faxed the permit to me. The permit also included third party.
However, in NSW, I would have needed a roadworthy slip, and would have had to present relevant purchase receipts, transport paperwork and twice as
much money at a counter in Sydney. It also did not include third party, which I would have to arrange at an additional charge. And they wonder why
people don't take things seriously.
Cheers
Craig

TwinCab Wheels
Yes, I have, but they won't be on for a while - I have some panel work to be done first.
John Sherman from VolksConversions has a range of brand new alloys that fit directly onto the Kombi bolt pattern. And his prices are very good. No
more guessing which wheels fit. The alloy choice he has include some very nice looking wheels.
I'll be putting Yokohamas on the wheels. I've been talking with CT Hansen from Yokohama about light truck tyres. CT races his beetle in the Beetle
racing segments in the magazine. Yokohama have recently been using Kombis in their advertising campaigns, and they have some very nice rubber to
choose from.
Cheers

Wheels and Tyres
They've been sold, on a handshake. If this falls through I have another person waiting. Maybe third time lucky? I'll let you know.
Here's another pic of the Twin Cab. It was lowered by Kimm Garland at Indian Automotive.
Cheers

Hi just a quick question about the subscriptions.I had a bit of trouble with the last one. I live out in the country and have road side delivery.Last
issue I was working a 12 hour day shift. It rained heavy all day and when I got home at 7pm I found a soppy yellow envelope that the postie had kindly
left half hanging out of my box with a wet magasine inside.Could we get them in a sealed plastic bag like some mags do or would it be too
expensive. That's the only problem the rest is perfect!!
Gary.
ps I did save it but it was hard to read as I couldn't wait for it to dry.

The extra costs of waterproof packaging could possibly be offset by getting the mag "Print Post Approved". A simple process for publications thru
Aus Post - they view a couple of issues and decide that the content is not offensive etc and the postage rates go down a bit.
I did this a few years ago when I published a small political magazine... they approved something which openly attacked our system of government so
little chance they'd knock back Australia's only VeeDub magazine.

Packaging
There is a good chance I'll go to plastic wrapping in the near future, but only when the magazine has settled into a sales routine and I have an idea
of associated postage costs.
The magazine is print post approved. It was approved for #1, but with the forced name change brought about by VGA, the application had to be
re-submitted, and was not ready for #2. As mentioned, this will certainly help reduce postage costs, and go the next step to reviewing packaging.
Email address is still editor@vwma.net.au and is functional.
As for the wet mag, please refresh my memory of your subscription details and I'll get a new one to you directly.
Cheers

I am amazed at how the vw community has rallied together. It seems that no matter where you go there are vw fanatics that have an association with
either the AussieVeeDubbers forumn or the VMA magazine. You have done a splendid job of pulling vw owners together and making what I believe to be one
of the strongest one make car communities in Australia.
What is even greater is the support that you provide each other.
With dedication like this VeeDubbs are here to stay!
Well done and a big personal thanks!

Thanks for the offer Craig but no replacement is needed as I salviged it enough to get my moneys worth. It's good that we can get to the top when we
have a problem through the forum.I can see you have already looked at the problem so just keep those new issues coming.

More Stories On The Website
Hi All,
I've been punching the keyboard and finished a few more stories for Issue#3. They are there to preview now on the website.
This of course does not cover all that is in #3, but there is only so much web space and time to show it all.
