shimming rockers


what sort of shims do i have to use to bring out the rockers on a type iv and are they easy to find?like, do most places carry them?somewhere in melbourne would be great.cheers

I just use suitable size washers, or make them out of sheetmetal.

now thats the kind of answer i like!it makes me feel better about performing the rocket science that vws need.even though ill try to get the right ones atleast i ll relax knowing anything suitable will do.thanks

Hi

You can only shim so much, then you need to change pushrod lenght.

so how much is too much? this is for a stock 1800.(reco heads) doesnt have to turn 5000+ or anything flash.cheers

Hi

The idea is that at 1/2 valve lift the adjusting screw should be parralel to the valve stem.
