Anyone been to Morton Island ?

Thinking of going to Morton Island after Valla for the week. Seems like a nice place to go but since it is going to cost around $300 (buggy and trailer) just to get across the barge and back again I want to make sure it is worth while.

What do you think ??

do you mean moreton island up off brisbane?? taking the combie trader over?? if so then yeah it rocks!! if you've ever been to any other of the sand islands then they are much the same i reckon. attractions include the lighthouse, freshwater lake (massive and c-c-c-olllldd), ummm beer, and so on. i'm sure theres more just dont have the tourist guide in front of me. i walked and hitched around it easter last year, had and absolute ball!!

Moreton Island is great. Love the beach and there is a place called blue lagoon that you should go to. I think it is fresh water.

Yes sorry, I do mean Moreton Island out from Brisbane and taking the combie trader over. We went to Fraser this time last year which was great, so are you saying Moreton will just be more of the same ?
Not sure if going in August will make it too cold for swimming as swimming in the lakes is part of the attraction.

More of the same but different. Not as many shops/resorts as fraser. Longer ferry ride. Still lots of sand and water great for buggies

Yeah Moreton is great fun, we've had Kombi's and Baja's over there before and had a blast. Tangalooma Resort has dolphin feeding too.

If you do a Manx club trip you would want to be able to negotiate a better price for the ferry ride...not sure to many people would want to shell out $200 for the weekend just to get there and back.
