PLEASE HELP!!!! lowering my beetle
Ha all
I have just lowered the rear of my 61 beetle another inner notch (it was lowered one notch when i bought it) to find that it now makes an awful sound
in the rear like it's bumping out, i left the rear bump stops out.
My question is... if i place the inner spline to the original position (stock height) and then adjust the OUTER spline to lower it....will this fix
the problem?????
I have done this mod so many times and never come accross this problem!!!

Well I can't tell you if it will work and stop bottoming out but this should help you.
If you torsion bar standard springrate with 40/44 spline turn the inner and the change is 9deg turn the s/plate and you get 8deg 10". so turn them
both in opposite directions for increment angles. but before you do this go to bunnings or somewhere and get a degree measuring tool (mine only cost
$10). this tool will make sure you have the right preload on each side by measuring the s/plate before you jack it into place. :thumb

I just use a cheap plastic protractor(I think thats waht theyre called?) you can get them at a newsagent fro about 50c to measure the angle between
the plate and the shock tower its pretty accurate

look at it this way it's only moving 10% of one inside spline........lol
