Collapsable steering column into 65 bug


Has anyone put a collapsable steering into a 65 bug, what are the differences?and or modifications needed?

I have fitted one to my Oval-used the collapsible shaft from a 69(I think it was about that vintage) and the outer column from a 65 so yours should only need the shaft.

I fitted a Series one Golf coloum into my 65.

However i cut and removed a 1 foot square section from under the dash so the coloum would sit flat and out of teh way of the formed panels that are origionally there

thsi also aided fitting a late model Type 3 fuse box and a Audi light switsh.

I was thinking!!! I could graft the collapsable portion onto my steering shaft?????????????

Yep you can do that just pin it as well to ensure it dont slip.
