How about separating the Water / Aircooled posts?

Just a question.
As a Golf fan, who has never owned an aircooled VW, but lots of watercooled ones, how about either labelling all the threads Air or Water, or giving the water cooled boys their own section. Would make it more relevant for me searching for tech tips and modification, if i did not have to read about van gearboxes and IRS for beetles! What do you the users think?

Considering i drive also a water cooled vehicle as well as 2 air cooled vehicles....... hmmmm NO i dont think they should be seperated..... just use your SEARCH button that helps narrow everything down.....

Also its not just Boys that have water cooled vehicles just to put my 2cents in :duh :duh :duh

It's probably better how it is imho. I don't have a Kombi or a Notch or a golf but end up reading about them all the time for fun. Have you seen this...

Agreed....I read about other VW Types all the time.....if it was seperate then I would possible become more ignorant of what's out there because I don't go searching......

As Moniek said...do a search for 'watercooled' or 'golf' under Tech or what ever section you are interested in...it will bring any posts up with those words....

Most of us would be doing this if after something specific and not just browsing around the community....

ok we could seperate them but look at it this way all cars are air cooled its just the difference in mediums used. some use oil, others use oil and water. so there is no difference in the cooling im sorry if its not to your liking but its not going to change just cause you have to wade through a few posts to get your tech info. im sorry but this whole water vs air debate has gone on long enough.

More a case of there being no water cooled info on this site, than having to find it.

there is some but not a lot since most water cooled is a minority due to cost and im sorry if i sounded a little rude but this is just a that most of us have air cooled cause they are easy to work on and modified

instead of saying "More a case of there being no water cooled info on this site" why dont you add some for the other to read trust me they appreciate it even if they dont have a water kooled dub they'll read it cause we all love to learn about the vw's no matter what form.

it sounds like you know a fair amount about the water cooled ones see's though you stated you've owned a few so enlighten us, who know's you might even start a revolution.

Don't take it to heart... or Modem!!!
that must be modern day language....
I' haven't heard it before... and believe it or Not there are still some People out there who don't know what a Modem Is or Was.... :):)

If there was a Water Cooled and Air Cooled Forum...
I would only look at One.... Which Bank??
they are labelled 1 & 2 - 3 & 4 .... Air Bank of course..:)

Actually I get heated sometimes when I look at a Heading on ebay...
1.6L VW engine - Good Condition - New Solex Carby.. No Bids... $5
AND then I click on it.....
and it turns out to be a Golf Engine!!
After I'm sick..:repuke:repuke

I then continue to look at MORE Air Cooled VW items on ebay
:):)

why bother seperating the posts.... if you are after something specific then search for it... if it is not here and you think it would be relevant to people's interest then research it and post it here, i'm sure people would read it...
you can also ask the question and see what responses you get... you would probably be surprised as to the information people are willing to share and not just for "air cooled".

There is a huge debate about air and water which I REFUSE to enter into ...... the thing is we should not be segregating the air and water posts because that just widens the bridge further

I reckon itd be a great idea

there are few watercooled posts that get hidden amongst all the aircooled ones. Would make it easier for people to find things.

If you look at "todays posts" you see everything anyway

I'm not part of this air/water bullshit if its a veedub thats cool. If its a vr6 twin turbo pumping 600hp I give it the same respect as a twin weber 1600.

nope!
nopenopenope now way nuh uh nooo chance! segregating posts, although easier for the few watercooled people on the forum, would merely segregate the people that use this forum.
:vader :vader :vader :vader :vader
and we don't want that now, do we? besides, simple searches help your problem out easily.

it s not segregation, fools. its headings. youve got heading for rats. techs. pics. chit chat. then in buy sell you have it broken down to cars and parts. so why not. as said above, todays topics posts everything. it jsut makes it easier to search or find/read. i think those that are saying segregation, are still the ones that cant get past it all.

not accusing you particularly dragbug, so dont take offence. i jsut find it funny that there are so many other 'sections' for all sorts of things, including 'non vw mods', yet the forum or some dont accomodate for a legitimate vw. its an interesting world at times.

I'm with you two guns..

hey guys - put yourself in his shoes. Most of us who are looking for - and interested in - air cooled info are well taken care of. What difference does it make to you/me if there is a separate section for water cooled????

And so much for welcoming him - I wouldn't take any of the responses as inviting and welcoming - would you? Sorry but I don't agree and think that spewing because you find "water cooled parts" on your searches, and using darth vader v's funny guy heads maybe says it all??

(oops I might be getting in over my head here)...

I do agree with the fact that all help is needed when it comes to water.
Could just get a little Difficult if we try to seperate every thread.
Every dub owner should be welcome on this site as im sure thats the reason why this all started,

Its only headings anyway....
I only look at what I'm interested in..... going by the heading.
If its water cooled I don't look.....
If its for a Subaru or nissan engine I don't look....
If the heading is stupid or Non explaintary.... I don't look....
If someone is looking for help...... I do look.....
If someone is looking for help with a golf.... I drink a glass of water and then don't look.....:):)

I'm basically interested in standard or mildly modified Air Cooled VWs.....

102.5 MPH 10.6 secs..... Sorry... not interested....

600HP twin turboed Air Cooled .... NOT Interested....

So we have a separate heading for non vw powered cars but youse can't have a seperate section for water cooled

mmmm must mean its ok to put a subbi in the back of a beetle
but not to drive a golf

Get with it guys
some people must be living in the dark ages

and the search function is not good enough to separate air/water

As your the first person to ask about a section for water cooled cars, it must mean that there are not too many who own such vehicles that visit this site.
I think it would be a good idea to start a new water section if there was a need but I think it would be a waste of time if there are only 3-4 people who would visit it.
Its like asking for a split bus site.
There are quite a few of us on here who own splits(more that there are water cooled ownres, I think)but we look at all of the site and would not need a site just for splits.

Oh my god
Im starting to type in a rational manner.
Got to get back to giving people shit.

hmmm - but maybe "if you build it, they will come"...

If you were a newcomer, and you had a watercooled - would you post something, or would you say "no it's all about aircooled" and turn off. I know what I would do.

But anyway - what do I care? i'm just up for the debate...:party
