If you just want someone to spray the paint on with no liability for prep work, you would probably be looking between $800 - $1200. Ring around would be the best idea until you get the cheapest price.

But remember, if you have done the prepwork, you will have to expect they will not guarantee the work, other than it should have no runs, and be all covered with no patches. You would expect it to have blemishes unless you have faultlessly prepared it.

Hope this helps.

How hard would you say it would be to attain perfect prep work?

If you have never painted a car before, or worked with a spray painter for a long time, I would have to say impossible. It takes a spray painter 4 years of apprenticeship to learn and get experience to do prep and paint. Sadly not even all of them can do an acceptable job.
