when i think ive got them on right, the decklid wont close
i hope ive got ones that will fit my bug (its a 68) its getting warm and i think the bug would like some cooling breeze.

Ok
the hinge is made up of 2 sides - the horizontal 3 bolts to the car, the 2 bolts to the engine lid.
Undo the 3 bolts side and bolt the stand off 3 elongated hole side to the car. Keep them sort of loose - like just tight but themp loose.
The old car side of the hinge now bolts to the 3 small holes of the new stand off. Do these up tight.
Now it is just push and adjust till it fits.
It SHOULD clear the bumper.
You MAY need to bend the tounge of the lock on the car where the latch locks if it doesnt make to take up for the different angle the lid now sits
at.
Does this make sense???

Hey Star,
Just letting you know I had them on my bug & got so annoyed with them cause everytime it rained water got into my engine & it wouldn't
start.
Got stuck with that a few times, the bug looked kool with them on, but were a pain in the ar** .
Also got sick to death of people telling me at stop lights that my boot lid was open....idiots.
Just letting you know that, as there is nothing worse than
not being told things that would of been helpful to know before you do these things & not after.

You can get the ones that are easily changed in a minute... Pull a pin out and shut the back. Glen (VWCOOL) makes them and you can buy them from
Vintage I think.

just lug around a tarp and some pegs
oasis, ive seen those, couldnt get them in brisbane when i needed them unfortunately.
are they easy to install and do you have a ballpark $ figure for them?

The above is a post on the hood jax but the pics are not working at the moment :alien
You do need to drill a 10mm hole in the hinge to stop it all moving about.
I paid $65 for mine and got them from Ben Durrie
Another benefit of them is the fact they have R clips for quick removal of the lid.
MUCH easier to work on the motor.
I would definitely go the Hood Jax over normal stand offs

Yeah, you could try Hoodjax. I designed them so they can be removed in next to no time so your lid can be closed for a 'stock' look and so rain
can't get in and kill you ignition. As mentioned, Hoodjax use removabl pins so it's easy to get your lid on and off.
(I am LONG overdue to make another batch... sorry... will have them made ready for the summer... but I think Stan Pobjoys racing Engineering (Nana
Glen/Coffs Harbour) and Vintage VW Supplies (Campsie, Sydney) have a couple of sets left)

No, the price is actually more than that from Stan and Vintage. I think it's around $90. That $65 price was a 'special' from Ben Durie Automotive,
just to get rid of the last couple he had in stock. I don't sell them through him anymore.

If you do get stuck swing by and we will sort them out for you.

Tis cool Brad, ive taken that cumbersome tail off the back of the bug, so her rear end is looking much less phatter now (got sick of wankers trying to race me at lights on the way home from work
at night)
and it also means that the standoffs fit goodly

I'm using hoodjax and are happy with them
need to be adjusted a bit better because there is a rattle back there
toof 15mins to install
makes working on the motor easy as well just take the hood off
cost $70 from pobjoys last year
also get stopped alot telling me the boot isn't closed
