Suggestions - Race Stripes.

Ok. The paints going on. Time to start thinking about visibility and head turning features. This is a semi-race prep Baja and I want to consider race stripes from front to back and possibly the sides.

The Vision:

Up and over-
4 Colours. Hopefully all reflective. Centre stripes Yellow and Green (Patriotic Aussie) with outer stripes being Red and Blue.

Up and over passenger side or drivers or cross over mid roof line. The two inner stripes wider than the outer stripes. Widths I don't know? What do you think looks good.

Down the sides-
Holographic stencil down entire side from fromt to rear wheel in block letters "BAJA BUG". Door will feature race number dot with same 4 colours weaving, even platting their way full length of car.

It a 71 model so 70's theme would be good with perhaps some form of plat, braid, twist or logo embeded within the colours.
Application can be either vynal or air brush. My neighbour is quite a talented airbrush artist and will hopefully be doing the dash.

Please suggest what you envisage racing stripes should be like.
Are there any historic references to width, pattern, colour etc.
Like I said - seeking eye striking visibility.

The Bronze.

Thanks Guys.

Heh - stupid I know but I have this aversion to red and green. I can handle them apart but never together. I don't know why. I asked my dad a christmas and he said it might be because he is seriously colour blind and as a kid would have to ask me which wires were which when doing electrical work around the house. Scary eh! Disliking Red and Green make christmas a hassle. 4 months avoiding shops.

I would exclude the orange as we and swap it with another colour. The Dog used to be orange and I hated it. It is a very 70's colour though. I like you idea with the smaller striped in between. Really set of the others. I will surely keep your design, but swap the green with the blue to the other side and swap the orange with perhaps yellow.

How cools that! Man that's not too bad at all.

Im thinking up higher though and more narrow. Up where the crome strip would be and say a 1/3rd or 1/4 the height of the door mabey. Because the Dog-O-War is Baja there is no front or rear section - just side so it may not look as effective as you image. It does stand out though don't it!

Man even the number dot look cool. Haven't though of a number but I'm sure I won't get a choice when I start entering it in Valentines, Heart and Kidney foundation rallies.

The base colour I'm keeping under my hat for now. Needless to say it's fairly neutral and will go with most anything. Wont be much longer and I'll post a photo. With the new paint job comes a new name as well. Hard to gain sponsorship with the name Dog-O-War in a time of war.

My mate Mix has sent me a link with some cool painted Bajas.

Here it is: http://sandlizrd.baja.com/bugrma99.htm

I've been to Sand Lizards site many times but this page must either be new or I missed it. It's a big site so I porbably missed it.

I dunno why but the forst time I saw this one I didn't notile the paint job. Like there is a tree that could scratch this.
